About the Titleist Vokey SM8

The Titleist Vokey SM8 was introduced in 2020 between the SM7 and SM9 generations and represented a major change in Vokey's progressive center-of-gravity design. SM6 had introduced the progressive-CG concept and SM7 refined it, but SM8 pushed the center of gravity forward to a position in front of the wedge face.

To create that geometry while preserving the appropriate vertical CG position through the loft range, the SM8 design used longer hosels together with high-density tungsten positioned low in the toe. That construction makes SM8 a particularly distinct step in the Vokey generation sequence rather than simply an updated version of SM7.

SM8 also retained a broad loft, bounce, and grind matrix. The 60° lineup included multiple configurations across L, M, S, D, and K grinds, giving two genuine 60° SM8 wedges the potential to differ substantially even before condition and shaft configuration are considered.
